About Austin Medical Relief for Haiti

AMRH came together as a group of doctors, nurses and OR staff ready to answer the call for help from Haiti.  Just 10 days after the earthquake, a team of 18 from Austin and Dallas flew to Haiti to help a group in need. The team quickly set up an operating room in an earthquake-damaged laboratory at the Mission of Hope in a clinic that sits on their 70 acre compound. The team had no idea that this one-week trip would trigger several months of ongoing medical and surgical care, including the mobilization of more than 17 unique medical teams including more than 220 volunteers (and counting!). The momentum of this endeavor has lead to the building of the first prosthetics lab in Haiti and now the building of a surgical hospital on the Mission of Hope campus.

Through partnerships within the community, including Hill Country Bible Church, Seton Hospital and the many healthcare volunteers, AMRH plans to continue to support Mission of Hope meet the healthcare needs of the Haitian people.
